19th National Tuna Congress

USAID Oceans will attend the 19th National Tuna Congress in General Santos City, Philippines, this September 6-8. The Tuna Congress is the premiere annual event in the Philippines that gathers hundreds of industry, government and private sector stakeholders together to discuss industry trends, fisheries management priorities, and current stock assessments and fisheries information.

USAID Oceans, together the Philippines Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will plan to make a special announcement at this year’s Congress, giving attendees a sneak-peek at the General Santos City electronic Catch Documentation and Traceabiliity System.

USAID Oceans will participate in the following highlight activities, and will also be present in the Exhibit Hall throughout the Congress:

  • September 6 – Catch Documentation and Traceability System Unveiling and Sneak-Peek (11:30am)
  • September 8 – Overview of the USAID Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (10:00am)
  • September 8 – Plenary: Update on the USAID Oceans CDT Project in General Santos City (11:15am)
  • September 8 – Plenary: Updates on the ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (ACDS) and work on Regional Fisheries Management, presented by partner SEAFDEC (1:30pm)
